Duke Nagle
July 12th 2017 - February 24th 2026
Dear Duke,
Although I didn't get to love you for your whole life, from the moment I met you, I knew I was going to love you for the rest of mine. π©·
When I brought you home, I had no idea what it meant to be unconditionally loved and cared for, but I now know what all of that really means. π©· You came along and changed my whole world; you brought joy, happiness, and most importantly, love into my world. π©· You gave a whole new meaning to my life. π©·
I felt as though you had given me a purpose and that I was meant to find you for a reason; that we were destined to help each other through the hard seasons of life, because now we didn't have to face our fears alone. π©·
About 2.5 years in, we found out you had cancer. π©· You had your brave battle, and you fought with everything you had in you and everything you had to offer, and always kept your spirit alive because love conquers all. π©· You fought for about five months until your body was no longer able to fight anymore. π©·
You were always so brave and had always protected me no matter what... and now it was my turn to protect you and save you the only way I knew how. π©·
As I watched you leave this world, it was the single hardest thing I've ever done in my life. But I had made a promise to you that we could always get through anything as long as we had each other; that it was always us, no matter what life threw at us. π©·
I had to be brave, just like you. π©·
These past three years were the best of my life. π©· From the moment I brought you home until the day you passed, there was a lot of love, laughter, tears, first moments, hugs, kisses, and car rides in between... and I enjoyed every second of it with you. π©·
I hope that you went to a place where the sun is always shining and the grass is always soft; a place filled with endless amounts of treats and all the love you could possibly have. π©·
Until we meet again, my sweet Duke. πΎπ©·
