Dr. Erica Dickie

Practice Owner | Hospice Veterinarian | Empath

I love seeing the unique ways pets are integrated into families, enriching the lives of those who love and care for them. That connection and bond shared between people and their pets is what motivated and inspired me to become a veterinarian.

Dr. Erica Dickie, Certified Hospice and Palliative Care & Peaceful Euthanasia Veterinarian. Pet Loss Grief Specialist.
I am so grateful and honoured to be able to help people from the comfort of their homes, providing compassionate end-of-life care to pets — honouring the bond, the life, and the love.
— Dr. Erica

My pets have been a part of many milestones in my life: from graduating vet school at the Ontario Veterinary College, to starting my career and marriage, buying our first home, and raising our two amazing children. My pets have been there through all the bumps in the road and have been a constant source of unconditional love and support

As my dear beloved soul pet, Smokey began his End-of-Life journey, so too, did I find my passion and calling in veterinary medicine: hospice, palliative care, and End-of-Life support. Founded out of a deep desire to help others going through End-of-Life journeys with their pets, my purpose in creating my mobile practice is to provide compassionate, caring, understanding, and non-judgment to help alleviate pet and human suffering alike.

I am passionate about advancing my knowledge in the emerging field of animal hospice. I am a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian through the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC).

I believe caring for animals’ emotional wellbeing is just as important as their physical symptoms; reducing fear, anxiety, and stress are a paramount.

Striving to serve our community and ensure the most comfortable experience for your pets, I have completed expert training in the art of gentle euthanasia through the Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy.

I enjoy living an active lifestyle with my husband Will, and two young sons, Reid and Logan, Going for walks and day-excursions are favourites in our house. I find great stress relief in practicing yoga, Qi Gong, and meditation. I also enjoy conversations with friends over a warm cup of loose leaf tea.

Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy Seal for a Certified Peaceful Euthanasia Veterinarian. Expert training in the gentle art of Euthanasia.

Honouring the bond, the life, and the love.

Our small business was featured in the Waterloo Record. We are honoured to be recognized within our community as a service that is deeply appreciated.

Helping pets, and pet lovers in our community from the comfort of home.

I am passionate about helping families through their pet’s end of life journey; creating a comfortable and receptive environment that encourages genuine discussion about loss and grief. I recognize just how difficult these end of life planning conversations can be; there is no rush, I am here to listen.
— Laura

With over 10 years experience in customer service, I am pleased to join Dr. Erica and Black Creek Mobile Veterinary Services as a Client-Care Coordinator and Administrative Assistant. Having a background in retail management, sales, and social relations, my passion has always been about helping the people and families in my local community.

I love being outdoors - kayaking, laying on the beach, hiking, cottaging and my camera always goes everywhere with me! Wildlife photography has been a passion of mine for many years.

Growing up we had a house full of pets AND people! From rabbits, hamsters, cats, reptiles, dogs, and even a few ducks - my siblings and I all had full hearts and lots of responsibilities! While in University I adopted a tabby-cat named Reggie who had the sweetest disposition. Reggie moved with me between many houses and always adapted quickly to the changes. From then on my house didn't feel like a home unless we had a cat underfoot.

Currently, my girls and I live with two bossy grey and white cat brothers named Itchy and Scratchy - and we recently adopted a little kitty who is all black, named Maggie. They provide so much love and laughter for all of us!

I have the honour of making sure your pet’s last ride is their best ride

I am Dr. Erica's husband, which means I get the privilege of working with and supporting my wife; and I also make sure your pet's cremains and treasured keepsakes are returned promptly and in a respectful manner.

I grew up outside of Monkton on a pig farm with my 3 brothers and sister and am actually 1 of 3 triplet boys!  After travelling and working overseas, installing and commissioning Radar sites for Raytheon Canada, I was happy to move back to Perth County to start our family and professional lives together.  I started Rising Edge Designs Inc. with two partners, where we design circuit boards.

When I'm not spending time with my family you can usually find me working on various home projects (including Erica’s office renovations).
