Memphis Densky-Rajic
2011 - December 3rd 2021
Our sweet boy Memphis- aka ‘Bubba’, aka ‘Love Mooch’.
He was a special companion from the moment we laid eyes on him. The rescue that we adopted him from told us that he came from Tennessee- a ‘kill shelter’ where dogs didn’t have much of a chance to be adopted out. We couldn’t believe how well behaved he was on-leash. He walked like he had years of practice and never pulled. He made it his mission to meet all of the humans that passed him by. He never failed to stop and wait to be pet by passers-by. He made sure to wait patiently for every human to interact with him.
At first, we thought maybe he was looking for his long-lost family, combing the streets for a familiar scent. We soon realized that it was more of a ‘calling’ for him to be near other people- he wasn’t afraid of anyone. People would feel his energy and after petting him and soaking in his glory- would remark that ‘he made their day’, or ‘that’s just what they needed in that moment’.
At home, Memphis was the sweetest boy with our kids. He would wedge his way up on the couch and plop himself on whoever’s lap was closest. When he wasn’t being pet enough, he would nudge us with his nose and whine a little- making sure we knew that he needed a little more lovin’.
Family and friends who would visit never failed to attach to him. Kids who were previously scared of dogs would warm up to him and ask to take him home. On more than one occasion, those same children who were scared of other dogs, would cry when it was time for them to go home- not wanting to leave our ‘sweet boy’.
He was the ambassador for all bully breeds. A loving, gentle boy who would contently lay in front of you- sleeping peacefully as long as there was a foot or other extremity touching him at all times.
When our youngest child was born last year, Memphis and Esme were inseparable. From the moment Esme could see and cry and laugh, Memphis was always by her side. He laid by her crib for naps and bed and came whenever she cried. When Esme learned to crawl and walk, Memphis was right by her side waiting for a pet, or a squeeze or tug or hug. Even in Memphis’ lowest moments of his illness, he wasn’t far from his little girl, laying as close to her as he could, as she ran and jumped and played.
We couldn’t have asked for a better addition to our family and another dog couldn’t replace what he meant to each and every one of us.
We love you Memphis - We will think of you often and remember you always
