For ten unforgettable years, you were more than just a dog

You were my best friend, my shadow, my comfort on the hardest days.

You knew when I was hurting, and you stayed. You always stayed.

With eyes full of understanding,

and a heart so full of love it humbled me.

You greeted me with joy, every single time,

no matter how short I’d been gone.

You listened without judgment,

loved without condition,

and lived each day with the kind of joy I can only hope to learn from.

You were there through changes, through seasons, through storms 

a constant when the world felt too much.

And though your paws no longer walk beside me,

I feel you still in memories, in quiet moments,

in the way I look for you when I come home.

I will always miss the sound of your steps,

the warmth of you curled beside me,

and the unconditional love that only you could give.
