Tuna Empson Laporte

January 2014 - September 18th 2026

We adopted our beloved pup from SCAAR in London. Her name was Luna, and she immediately had us wrapped around her paw. She had a heart-shaped white spot on her chin, a little omen of all the love she would bring to our family.

Somewhere along the way, Luna became Tuna, and the rather idiotic name for a 95 lb Mastiff Lab just stuck. Truth be told, we could have called her anything, as long as food was involved!

As a Mastiff Lab, her drool bubbles were legendary. She never begged, but the sound of cutlery, a chip bag, or the fridge door opening was enough to turn on the drool taps.

She loved to swim, happily jumping into the water and splashing around. The word "walk," or even just a glance at her leash, would send her into a joyful frenzy. And her wagging tail? More destructive than a baseball bat in a china shop!

Towards the end of her life, her eyesight wasn't the best, but she could still hear food hitting the floor three houses away. She also became frightened of electronic beeps, turning our 95 lb girl into a quivering lap dog. We will forever treasure those moments of holding her tightly between us, doing our best to help her feel safe.

Tuna was a giant ball of love, often leaning into her favourite people. Her soulful face and gentle strength brought us comfort in so many ways. Run free, dear Tuna. Enjoy all the Cheerios you can find, all the lakes you can swim in, and all the trails you can wander.

We miss you so much, but we know we'll meet again over the bridge. ❤️
