Honouring the
Human–Animal Bond

At Black Creek Mobile Vet, we’ve always believed that every pet—and every family—deserves compassion, dignity, and care, especially during life’s most tender moments. Our mission has always extended beyond the homes we visit; it’s about supporting our community and helping families facing the difficult decisions that come with a pet’s end-of-life journey.

This is why the Farley Foundation holds such a special place in our hearts. The Foundation helps low-income pet owners across Ontario access emergency and necessary veterinary care, ensuring that financial barriers don’t stand in the way of love and compassion. Through their incredible work, thousands of pets have received care that would otherwise be out of reach—keeping cherished companions and their families together when it matters most.

A Creative Way to Give Back

On October 3rd, 2025, we hosted our first-ever Pet Portrait Paint Night Fundraiser at the Sebringville Community Centre—a heartwarming evening that combined creativity, community, and compassion.

A beautiful group of 50 pet-loving individuals came together to paint meaningful portraits of the animals they love. In total, 51 paintings were created with love, including three donated commissioned pieces generously created by Cheryl McKenny of The Imagined Canvas.

With Cheryl’s warm guidance, guests of every skill level transformed their favourite pet photos into cherished keepsakes. And through their creativity and generosity, we raised $2,620 for the Farley Foundation.

It was a beautiful reflection of what makes our community so special — people coming together to celebrate their love for animals while extending that love to others.

Guests submitted their favourite pet photos in advance, and Cheryl at The Imagined Canvas transformed each one into a 12×12” canvas outline. With her guidance, every participant created a one-of-a-kind portrait of their beloved companion.

This event was born from a love of art and creativity—something that brings joy to so many. It was incredibly moving to see so much love for so many different pets and animals gathered in one room. Each person came to paint their own companion, yet through that act, they were helping another family and another pet in need. It was truly beautiful.

The Farley Foundation in Action

Over the years, we’ve seen firsthand the difference the Farley Foundation makes. Their support has helped many pet families say goodbye to their beloved companions in the comfort of home—something deeply aligned with our mission at Black Creek Mobile Vet.

When I started Black Creek Mobile Veterinary Services, dedicating our care exclusively to the End-of-Life phase for pets, I really wanted to honour the bond, life, and love shared with our beloved companion animals. I knew there would be clients and pets who would really benefit from spending their last shared moments together in the comfort of home. I also knew there would be some who really wanted this experience, but unfortunately, could not afford it. This challenge is real and it affects all of those involved—the pet, the pet caregivers, guardians, pet owners, the veterinarian, and veterinary team. We hear the stories, we see the connection and love, and we want to help.
— Dr. Erica Dickie
The Farley Foundation helps make this possible, ensuring that love—not finances—guides the final moments we share with our pets.
