Scamp Coombs
2007 - July 1st 2020
Our family was blessed to be chosen to be Scamp’s adoptive family when we applied to Arf Ontario (London rescue) 14.5 years ago. We had applied for one of his litter mates that looked like a blonde curly golden-doodle but didn’t get him. At the urging of my daughter oldest daughter, we applied for Scamp who was a scruffy wiry looking little pup and wasn’t what you’d call cute but then he blossomed into the most beautiful one of a kind dog ever.
Scamp was such a sweet boy with a huge heart and smart as could be! I was lucky to be a stay at home mom for awhile so Scamp was glued to my side from day one. He spent the first half of his life on our horse farm and just loved to be outdoors with us and would just sit on the deck and watch over the horses and acreage. He loved our other corgi, our barn cats and horses and well, just everyone who came to visit.
Scamp then spent the last half of his life at the lake when we moved to Bayfield and he adjusted very well to that. He loved walks to the park and runs along the beach There wasn’t a person he didn’t like and all who met him fell in love with him. Everyone always stopped and asked what kind of dog he was and I just said, “he’s a lovable mutt”.
When we had to make the difficult decision to let him go and cross the rainbow bridge, we could see how much he had touched others as a couple of people stopped by with treats to give to him and to say good bye. The next morning was the hardest ever but we knew Scamp had told us that it was his time so we had to do what we knew we would never want to do but we did it for him.
Dr. Erica and Laura made it a very special passing and as my daughter said, “if it had to be done, it was done in the most beautiful way”. Thank you to both of you from the bottom of our hearts for being there for Scamp and our family.
We miss our special boy tremendously as he was my constant companion and I didn’t realize how much I talked to him until he was not there. Dogs and cats are much more than pets, they are members of the family and Scamp was the most loving loyal member ever.
Scamp is missed by me and my girls who were only 9 and 12 when we got him and now are adults. He’s also missed by his corgi brother Blue and sister Paula too. Rest in play Scamp and I know that you’ll be the first one to run to me when I get there.
Always missed and never forgotten
Love Elaine and the girls
