Smuckers Smith

05/08/2009 - 10/29/2021

We said our good byes to our best boy Smuckers peacefully in our arms, his family, in the only home he ever knew.

Smuckers gave us the most profound joy and love for more than 12 years and leaves us with the most profound sadness I think I’ve ever felt. He was in Madelyn’s life as long as she can remember and shared in all her special moments. I will be forever thankful that Smucky chose us for his family to share his wonderful life and unconditional love. And he really did chose us.

Smuckers was named from a Seinfeld episode and not the jam like many people think. It was the episode where Kramer refuses to go to a doctor for a bad cough. He finds a dog named Smuckers who has the same cough, and takes him to a veterinarian, since he trusts vets more than his own doctor. My sister had the same cough the weekend I got him and that’s where the name came from and it suited him perfectly.

He was our best boy! Our little rascal! Our digger! He has so many unknown items buried in our yard that I expect to uncover for years to come .. he stole food every chance he could get .. pizza was his favourite .. he would seek out every opportunity to run and as long as you kept chasing him, he’d keep going. He would bark relentlessly until he got his way. He hated thunder and fireworks and more so as he aged .. He humped his bed his entire life and even when his little legs were so weak he could barely stand. The site of a pussy cat or a squirrel would drive him wild. What I wouldn’t give to see him do any of those things just one more time .

Smuckers loved everything life had to offer. He was so protective of the people he loved. He had the best, most funniest personality and the cutest facial expressions. He was the most kindest gentle soul and loved us endlessly every day. I wouldn’t change a thing about that precious boy. He was perfect and our hearts are truly broken.

I was lucky enough to be working from home the last year and a half when he needed us the most. He was by my side every minute of every day. He would look for me if I wasn’t in his sight. In the end, he counted on me for everything.

I truly hope Smuckers always knew how much he was loved and how important a part of our family he always was and will always be. Rest in Peace our sweet sweet boy. The only comfort we can take is that you are no longer in pain.

We will forever love and miss you buddy! You will always be with us.

❤️Smuckers is eternally loved and missed by Tammy & Madelyn and all of the other friends, family, relatives, neighbours and dogs in the community
