He was 13 years old.
His nick names were Ray Ray, Ree Row and Pumpkin.
We used to camp at Shelter Valley and another campsite near our trailer had 3 puppies. We had lost our dog Grover 2 years previous and it was hard to make that decision to get another dog...
But looked into his eyes and that was it! Boys named him Rio. The owner had been calling him Oreo. Rio had a black and white brother and a sister that was brown.
Rio was a sweet heart. He was my shadow. Always looking to see if "momma" was near, or following. He followed me everywhere. Always at the front door to see when I got home and then run to the side door to greet me.
I miss him everyday. I miss his eyes, always filled with a sparkle of love. He was kind, gentle and great with our cats Timmy, Lolly and BB.
I got a blanket with all different pictures of him, in memory of and I cuddle with it everyday. It was a gift.
It's very hard, but I know we did the right thing and he is now at peace.
