Rocky Thom

March 6th, 2009 - March 21st, 2025

“Rocky was a Rottweiler-Shepherd mix with a heart as big as his presence. At 16 years old, he had lived a life full of love, loyalty, and unwavering companionship. Stinker- butt, Rocky-boi.

He didn’t have the easiest start—originally owned by a junkyard owner who wanted a guard dog.

But Rocky wasn’t built for intimidation; he was gentle, kind, and full of love.

When it became clear he wouldn’t be the fierce protector they expected, he was surrendered to the humane society. I was the manager at the time, and the moment he walked through the door, I knew he was meant to be mine. Initially, I planned to foster him, hoping to ease his nervousness. But within days, it was clear—he was never going back.

From that moment on, Rocky became more than just a pet; he was family. Loyal, calm, silly, and endlessly sweet—he was the best companion anyone could ask for. He was our quiet protector, always keeping a watchful eye to make sure his pack was safe. No matter how long you were gone, whether minutes or hours, he greeted you like you were the most important person in the world, his tail spinning in joyful circles.

Rocky had a few simple joys in life: chasing squirrels (he actually caught two!), savoring pizza crusts, and soaking up ear scratches. He had a way of winning over everyone he met—dog lovers and non-dog lovers alike. Even dogs known for being unfriendly couldn’t help but be drawn to his calm, kind nature. His last few years were spent in his favorite place: soaking up the sun at the trailer and long walks.

He was there through life’s biggest milestones, a steady and loving presence through it all.

We were incredibly lucky to share our world with Rocky, and his love will stay with us always.

Rest easy, good boy.”
